Transit of Venus, June 8, 2004
Tansits of Venus are rare events, occurring in pairs every 120 years or so. For the 2004 transit, Venus was near the end of its passage in front of the sun at sunrise. This photo shows the rising sun from Western Minnesota with atmospheric distortion of Venus in the lower right. The next (and last transit in our lifetime) of Venus will take place June 6, 2012. Photo taken with TV85, solar filter, Canon F1, slide film, exposure not recorded.
